When a movie becomes a hit at the box office, there is often an urge to come up with a sequel to give fans more. Unfortunately, in many cases, the sequel never lives up to the standard of the original movie. However, there are times when the sequel is better than the original. Logan
Hugh Jackman played Wolverine in two stand-alone movies before Logan. Both of these are widely considered to be the most disappointing in the X-Men franchise. Director James Mangold decided that he wanted a darker movie as the third and final installment, which became the R-rated Logan.
Toy Story 3
The first two Toy Story movies were a huge success and highlighted what Pixar could do with computer animation, but they were not as emotionally fraught as the third installment. With Andy going to college, the toys find themselves sent to a daycare centre from where you think they might never return.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Terminator was, in many ways, a groundbreaking movie that not only employed good special effects, but also had an almost silent main character that oozed menace. However, for many, the second movie in the franchise was the perfect mix of suspense, special effects, and humor that turned the Terminator’s role on its head.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
This is the third movie in the series but is arguably one of the best. Not only does it have all of the typical issues that families have over the festive period, but it also delivers some amazing comedy and visual gags.
